The cruiser Aurora, a battleship and a participant in the social, military, and political upheavals in Russia in the 20th century, is a ship-museum depicting the modern history of the Russian Navy. Constructed in 1897, the armed cruiser was utilized in the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905. Hit by a torpedo at the end of the war, it managed to escape from Japanese capture and was repaired. It was re-armed and used in The First World War. Stationed in St. Petersburg in 1917, it became one of the symbols of the October Revolution after a blank shot from her forecastle gun was fired on October 25, 1917, signaling the start of the assault on the Winter Palace, which was to be the beginning of the October Revolution. After being used as a training ship in The Second World War, the Aurora was decommissioned and transformed into a museum. It was restored and renovated in 2014, and now is ready for a complete and modernized visit.
With your guide, you can retrace the rich history of the cruiser Aurora, and you will learn more about Russian naval history of the 20th century.
