The Tretyakov gallery is an important museum and we’ve been really glad to visit it. The museum itself is great as it exposes so many masterpieces of European and above all Russian art. But the best was to visit the museum with our guide Anna. Anna was a very proficient, nice, smiling and knowledgeable woman. She answered all our questions on the paintings, the icons and the history of the museum. I especially loved the paintings of the sea and the three bears in the forest, it was absolutely stunning. Definitely recommending this visit if you want to find your way in the labyrinth that is the Tretyakov gallery and if you want to discover and learn, rather than only see.

If you go to Moscow, take the time to go to the outstanding Tretiakov museum, it is always better with a english guide! It was easy to book the visit, and I’m glad that we did because it totally worth it in the end. The gallery is very vast and we didn’t have time to see everything, but we really enjoyed the Belle-Epoque drawing and their story. Thanks a lot for the tips, we wish we could come back in Moscow and stay longer! Julie & Morgan.
